Iraqi PM announces death of ISIS 'Wali of Iraq', eight senior ISIS leaders in southern Kirkuk operation
"There is no place for terrorists in Iraq," al-Sudani emphasized in the statement. "We will continue pursuing them in their hideouts and eliminate them until Iraqi territory is completely cleared of their presence."
ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani announced on Tuesday the killing of ISIS's self-proclaimed "Wali of Iraq" along with eight other senior leaders of the terrorist organization in the Hamrin Mountain range south of Kirkuk.
In an official statement, al-Sudani revealed that the ISIS leaders were eliminated while hiding in a shelter within the Hamrin Mountains during "an exceptional and heroic operation" conducted jointly by counter-terrorism forces and the National Security Agency, under the supervision of the Joint Operations Command.
"There is no place for terrorists in Iraq," al-Sudani emphasized in the statement. "We will continue pursuing them in their hideouts and eliminate them until Iraqi territory is completely cleared of their presence."
The successful operation marks another significant blow to ISIS's remaining leadership structure in Iraq.
