ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - In a cross-border military operation, Turkish drones conducted two separate strikes on Asos Mountain near the village of Galala in the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday evening.
Kamaran Hassan, the District Administrator of Mawat, confirmed the attacks to Kurdistan24.
The targeted area, located in the Mawat district of Sulaimani, has strategic significance due to its proximity to both the Iranian border and known militant movement routes.
Asos Mountain, standing at approximately 2,000 meters, has been the site of previous military operations due to its complex terrain and strategic location.
This latest drone strike comes amid ongoing Turkish military operations, which have intensified in recent years as part of Turkey's campaign against what it considers security threats in the region.
Local authorities are monitoring the situation, though no immediate casualties have been reported.
