Not registered in biometric system, monthly payment, salary will be suspended
It is compulsory to be registered in the biometric system, and later to have a personal bank account, so to get paid by the government
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Ministry of Finance and Economy of the Kurdistan Region Government stated in an announcement on Sunday “for those who have not yet done the biometrics, must get register by November 20th, 2024, otherwise their salaries will be suspended by Baghdad authority”
According to the announcement, it is compulsory to be registered with the biometric system, and then later to have a personal bank account, so to get paid by the government.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy at the Kurdistan Regional government reached an agreement with the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Iraqi Government, which conferred the following:
-All the employees, staff-members, pensioners, disabled and heirs of martyrs who do not own the Unique Personal Number (UPN), and have not been registered in the biometric system, must get registered by November 20th, 2024.
- The decision of getting registered with the biometric system applies to all employees and governmental sector’s employee who are abroad for various reasons or unpaid leave, study, etc.
- Anyone who is a governmental sector’s employee or salaried employee in the Kurdistan Region, and does not have a biometric coding by November 20th, 2024, the Ministry of Finance at the Iraqi Federal Government can halt the payment, i.e. their salary will be suspended and will be held to accountability.
It is decided that a delegation of the Director General of Accounting, Director General of Budget and advisors at the Ministry of Finance from the Kurdistan Regional Government will visit Baghdad on Monday October 28th, 2024, to take the income list for the month of October in a paper-based documentation.
In Kurdistan Region, there are around 35.000 salaried employees and staff who are experiencing biometric problems, the delegation is set to discuss that issue too.
Now, the Kurdistan Regional Government processes the salaried employees who face problems with the biometric registration on Fridays and Saturdays. The government attempt is to solve all those problems that the Iraqi Federal Ministry of Finance questioned about.
The Ministry of Finance and Economy at the Kurdistan Regional Government stressed that the total amount of the salaried employees for the month of October is more than 998 billion dinars, including pensioners’ equivalent payment.
