ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Three individuals died by suicide in separate incidents across Baghdad late last night, according to security sources, raising concerns about mental health challenges in the Iraqi capital.

A security source has revealed that a 25-year-old man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a public park near the Green Zone, Baghdad's heavily fortified government district.

In a separate incident in the Nahrawan neighborhood, a 55-year-old man was found deceased in his home after taking his own life. The third incident involved a 21-year-old who was discovered in his residence in the Bayaa area.

The security source confirmed that authorities have launched investigations into all three incidents.

These events occur amid growing concerns about mental health services in Iraq, where decades of conflict, economic instability, and social pressures have impacted the population's psychological well-being.

According to recent World Health Organization reports, Iraq faces significant challenges in providing adequate mental health support to its citizens, with limited access to professional care and persistent social stigma surrounding mental health issues.
