Kurdistan Region President Barzani Meets British Ambassador to Discuss Regional Developments

Both sides emphasized the importance of political cooperation among various parties in forming the next Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet.

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hitchen on Thursday (Nov. 7, 2024) to discuss several key issues, including the recent Kurdistan parliamentary elections, bilateral relations, and regional developments. 

During the meeting, which was also attended by the British Consul General to the Kurdistan Region, Andrew Bizley, Ambassador Hitchen congratulated Kurdistan Region's President Barzani and the people of Kurdistan on the successful completion of the parliamentary elections.

Both sides emphasized the importance of political cooperation among various parties in forming the next Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) cabinet.

The discussions centered on several crucial topics, including:
- The successful execution of the Kurdistan Parliament elections
- British relations with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region
- Erbil-Baghdad relations
- Current regional developments

The two sides expressed mutual interest in strengthening ties between the United Kingdom and both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They also discussed the complex situation in the Middle East and emphasized the importance of keeping Iraq isolated from regional conflicts and tensions.
