Tehran commends Baghdad, Erbil's role in implementing Iraq-Iran security agreement

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Tehran has praised both the Iraqi federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for their roles in implementing the security agreement between Iraq and Iran, following a high-level meeting held in Tehran on Monday, November 11, 2024.

Qasim Al-Araji, Iraq's National Security Advisor, met with Dr. Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, in a session that was also attended by Rebar Ahmed, Interior Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

According to a statement from Al-Araji's office, the meeting focused on reviewing key aspects of the joint security agreement between Iraq and Iran, including implementation details. The discussions also covered ways to enhance security and political cooperation between Baghdad and Tehran.

The Iranian side expressed particular appreciation for both the Iraqi federal government and the KRG's commitment to supporting and implementing the agreed-upon terms of the security agreement.
