ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The long-awaited general population census officially commenced today across the Kurdistan Region, with census takers beginning their electronic data collection in residential neighborhoods of central Erbil.

Field workers have started registering households and completing digital forms as part of the modernized census process, marking a significant shift from traditional paper-based methods.

The census results are expected to have important implications for resource allocation, political representation, and development planning across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The use of electronic forms represents a modernization of the process, though as reported from some areas, technical challenges such as internet connectivity have posed some difficulties for census workers.
