ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) President Masoud Barzani received Ayad Allawi, leader of the Iraqi National Alliance, and his accompanying delegation at his office in Pirmam on Monday.
During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on several critical issues, including the Kurdistan Parliament elections, recent developments in Iraq and the region, and the various challenges threatening Iraq's stability.
Ayad Allawi, who served as Iraq's interim Prime Minister from 2004 to 2005, leads the Iraqi National Alliance and remains an influential figure in Iraqi politics.
His meeting with President Barzani comes at a significant time as the Kurdistan Region prepares for parliamentary elections. Such high-level meetings between Kurdish and Iraqi national leaders are crucial for maintaining political dialogue and addressing shared concerns about regional stability.
Allawi has historically played a moderate role in Iraqi politics and has maintained regular communication with Kurdish leadership regarding national and regional issues.
The timing of this meeting is particularly relevant given the ongoing discussions about Kurdistan's electoral process and broader regional security challenges.
