ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Kurdistan Region started focusing on combating drug addiction and misuse, which has become a growing concern across Iraq and the wider region of the Middle East.
On Tuesday, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani set the cornerstone for building a Drug Awareness and Rehabilitation Center in Erbil.
This first-time, to-be built rehabilitation center represents a distinctive phase in Kurdistan Region from the Government's comprehensive strategy to address both the law enforcement and public health awareness about the drug between the medical treatment, recreation and misuse sides.

In the ceremony of the first-time, to-be built rehabilitation center, Musa Ahmad, the President of the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) attended and gave his speech.

The Premier, in his distinctive speech in the ceremony, underscored the government’s commitment to combating the growing drug crisis.
"This center is a crucial project," Barzani stated, expressing gratitude to the Barzani Charity Foundation and LDC organization for their collaboration. He particularly acknowledged Latter-day Saint (LDS) Charities' decade-long support of the Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) and hoped for continued cooperation.

Elder Adilson de Paula Parella the Representative of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) gave a speech at the ceremony.
