ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Iraqi army forces raided the village of Mansour in Kirkuk's Daquq district on Wednesday, arresting 10 local citizens, including farmers and a Peshmerga, without a court order, according to a report by resident Muhammed Ibrahim.

The raid, led by the commander of the 2nd Battalion of the 87th Maghawir Brigade under the eastern forces of Saladin province, resulted in the detention of individuals who were reportedly targeted due to alleged security violations. Ibrahim stated that three of the detainees were accused of hunting animals in a remote area of the village, an activity prohibited for security reasons. However, Ibrahim condemned the accusations as unfounded and called the actions of the Iraqi army a violation of citizens' rights.

Among those arrested were Arshad Adel, Muhammed Jawamer Jabbar, Muhammed Azad, and Danar Muhammed Ahmad. Ibrahim noted that some of the detainees were local farmers and shepherds who had no involvement in any criminal activities.

Ibrahim further claimed that the arrests were part of a broader effort to oppress Kurdish citizens in the area, accusing the Iraqi forces of acting in the interests of resettled Arabs at the expense of the local Kurdish population. He called on the Kurdish political leadership to intervene and end what he described as violations by the Iraqi army.

The incident has raised concerns about ongoing tensions and the treatment of Kurdish citizens in Kurdish areas outside Kurdistan Regional Government control. Local authorities have not yet issued a response to the allegations.

Residents of Mansour are calling for an immediate resolution to the situation, urging that justice be served and that the rights of the local population be upheld.
