Further money arrived for farmers in Kurdistan Region

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – The Director General of Trade at the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Kurdistan Region (KR), Nawzad Sheikh Kamil, exclusively stated to Kurdistan 24 Website on Sunday "another amount selling wheat to Iraq, has been received, and it will be distributed" 

According to his statement, 60 billion dinars for Sulaimani, 54 billion and 454 million dinars for Erbil and 43 billion dinars for Duhok, however, there is more than 130 billion dinars the Iraqi government owes, which they have promised to send it soon. 

Since Thursday, September 19th, 2024, the distribution of the money received from the Federal Government, has begun for the farmers in the two provinces of Erbil and Duhok. 

As a part of the deal with the federal government, the Iraqi Government sent a cheque of '150 billion dinars' to the Ministry of Trade and Industry at the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

Division from the above amount of money to the provinces:   

- 47 billion, 373 million and 835 thousand dinars for Erbil province

- 35 billion, 541 million and 48 thousand dinars for Duhok province 

- 67 billion, 84 million and 117 thousand dinars is the money for farmers in both Sulaimani and Halabja provinces as well as for both of the Independent Administrations of Garmian and Raparin. 

According to the deal agreed between the KRG's Ministry of Agriculture and the Iraqi gov's Ministry of Trade regarding the wheat purchase from farmers in Kurdistan Region, the federal government bought 700,000 tons of wheat for the year 2024. 

The agreement covered wheat purchasing from the following provinces: 

- 228 thousand tons from Erbil 

- 282 thousand tons from Sulaimani, and 

- 189 thousand tons from Duhok
