Italy's new Ambassador meets President Barzani as Italy's Consul General departs

Erbil (Kurdistan24) – According to a statement issued by Barzani Headquarters, President Masoud Barzani welcomed the new Italian Ambassador to Iraq Niccolò Fontana on Monday in Pirmam.
At the meeting, which the Italian Consul General to Erbil Michele Camerota also attended, the new Italian Ambassador expressed his delight at starting his diplomatic mission in Iraq and for the visit to the Kurdistan Region.
Amb. Fontana highlighted the friendship and relationship between Italy and the Kurdistan Region, expressing his readiness to further develop and broaden the bilateral relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region.
For his part, President Barzani congratulated the newly appointed Ambassador of Italy to Iraq for starting his new assignment and wished him success.
President Barzani, while pointing out the importance of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Italy, described the bilateral relations as both “friendly and historical.”

The statement also highlighted that the Italian Consul General Michele Camerota, following the end of his diplomatic duties in the Kurdistan Region, bid farewell to President Masoud Barzani.

For his part, President Barzani acknowledged the Consul General Camerota’s efforts in developing bilateral relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region. He wished for continued success for the outgoing Italian Consul General in his future roles and diplomatic duties.
