ERBIL, Kurdistan Region (Kurdistan 24) – In an interview, on Monday, with Kurdistan 24, the KRG Coordinator for International Advocacy, Dr. Dindar Zebari said “there is a special conference about the 76th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2024”
In this regard, Dr. Zebari told website desk at Kurdistan 24 that such conference will be an opportunity to discuss the coordination and cooperation at the local, international and civil society levels, as well as the role of the government in promoting and developing human rights.
The Prime Minister, Masrour Barzani and his ninth Cabinet of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) focused on the rights of citizens and freedoms in general, as well as embraced the KRG’s Plan of the Human Rights (2021-2025) and implemented the international recommendations were directed to Kurdistan Region within the Republic of Iraq.
The fundamental step taken was to harmonize the applicable articles from the international agreements and treaties, it was also a part of the reform process in the ninth cabinet in Kurdistan Region.
“The conference will present data and figures regarding those steps taken by the Kurdistan Regional Government to the related matters,” Dr. Zebari added “the event will be a platform to reflect the progress made about our commitment to the international treaties and agreements, in term of good governance”
He further explained that highlights will be on continuing efforts to achieve justice and equality, providing an opportunity to all the three tiers Legislature, Executive and Judiciary and to carry out a comprehensive evaluation on the international demand reflections within the regional establishments.
The KRG Coordinator for International Advocacy reiterated that the conference is for making discussions about key developments, challenges and future opportunities in the region.
