President Barzani, Russian Ambassador discuss formation of government, Erbil-Baghdad relations

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – On Tuesday, President Masoud Barzani met with the Russian Ambassador to Iraq Elbrus Kutrashev in Pirmam.

According to the readout of the meeting by Barzani Headquarters, the Russian Consul General Maxim Rubin also attended the meeting.

The statement revealed that both sides discussed the Kurdistan Region’s Parliamentary election, where Amb. Kutrashev extended his congratulations to President Barzani for conducting a successful democratic process.  

The Russian Ambassador noted that holding the election in such a peaceful manner with the significant voter turnout is a “great achievement” for the Kurdistan Region, manifesting Kurdistan’s adherence to democratic values.

The statement also mentioned that the meeting paid attention to the steps being taken within the Kurdistan Region’s political process to expedite the formation of a new government cabinet.
