ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Shibani has announced plans for official visits to Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Jordan this week, following his recent significant visit to Saudi Arabia, marking a noteworthy change in regional diplomatic relations.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Shibani expressed optimism about the forthcoming diplomatic engagements.
"I will be conducting official visits to Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan this week, representing my country," the Foreign Minister stated, adding that he looks forward to these visits "with great enthusiasm to support stability, security, economic recovery, and building strong partnerships."
This diplomatic tour comes at a decisive moment following recent dramatic developments in Syria.
On Dec. 8, 2024, opposition forces, headed by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), gained control of Damascus, prompting former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to flee to Russia, marking a historic change in the country's political landscape.
