ERBIL (Kurdistan24) - In a diplomatic engagement highlighting the deepening bilateral ties between Canada and the Kurdistan Region, President Masoud Barzani received Canadian Ambassador to Iraq Christopher Boehm at his headquarters in Pirmam on Tuesday.

According to a statement released by the Barzani Headquarters, Ambassador Boehm underlined Canada's commitment to expanding and enhancing its strategic partnership with the Kurdistan Region, underscoring the importance his nation places on these diplomatic relations.

The Canadian diplomat extended his congratulations to President Barzani concerning the successful execution of the Kurdistan Parliamentary elections in October 2024, which he characterized as exemplary due to its peaceful nature and significant voter turnout.

President Barzani expressed gratitude for Canada's crucial military support to the Kurdistan Region's Peshmerga forces during the campaign against ISIS, while highlighting the mutual desire to broaden bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
