ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi Interior Ministry has confirmed that two border guard soldiers were martyred and another wounded in an attack by PKK gunmen while on duty protecting border areas near Zakho.

In a statement, the Iraqi Interior Ministry revealed that PKK gunmen targeted Iraqi border guard forces stationed in the Zakho border region, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers and the injury of another.

“The attack occurred while our forces were carrying out their duties to protect the border areas,” the ministry stated, condemning the incident and referring to the PKK as a terrorist organization.
