Kurdistan's Model of Peaceful Coexistence Showcased in the US by Minister Ano Jawhar

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Kurdistan Region is renowned internationally for its peaceful coexistence among different sects and religions, which stands as one of its most significant strengths, Kurdistan Region's Minister of Transport and Communications Ano Jawhar 

Speaking to Kurdistan24 on Saturday, Minister Jawhar shared insights from his discussions with US Congress members. "I spoke to the members about the harmonious living among different sects and religions in the Kurdistan Region. In response, they expressed great respect for the people and leadership of Kurdistan," said Minister Jawhar.

Additionally, Minister Jawhar addressed ongoing financial disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, particularly concerning the non-disbursement of salaries to Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) employees. He reported, "I have urged US government officials to exert pressure on the Iraqi government to fulfill the financial entitlements of the Kurdistan people."

Minister Jawhar is currently visiting Michigan, where he has participated in several significant events and meetings with US Congress members and other government officials.

"The US officials and citizens deeply respect the leadership and people of Kurdistan, particularly appreciating our region's peaceful coexistence among its diverse ethnic and religious groups," Jawhar remarked.

He stressed the importance of reciprocal visits to strengthen ties, noting the historical support the US has provided to Kurdistan at various times. He highlighted the safety of the region, pointing out that no American citizens or soldiers have lost their lives in Kurdistan.

Concluding his comments, Minister Jawhar emphasized the US's interest in continuing to enhance relations with the Kurdistan Region. "US officials appreciate the Peshmerga forces and President Masoud Barzani, showing a strong commitment to furthering our collaborative efforts," he said.
