ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Iraqi security forces conducted a high-precision airstrike targeting an ISIS hideout in the al-Zarka region within the Salah al-Din operations sector, resulting in the elimination of three senior militants, including the so-called Wali of Kirkuk.
According to a statement by the Joint Operations Command, the operation led to the killing of Daham Mohammed Alawi, also known as Abu Saeed al-Dandoushi.
Alawi, who held the position of ISIS’s Wali of Kirkuk, was responsible for numerous terrorist attacks, the killing of civilians, and orchestrating crimes across Wadi al-Shay, the Hamrin Mountains, and Hawija in the Kirkuk sector.
The airstrike also took out Shahadha Alawi Saleh, known as Abu Isa, the ISIS commander for the Hamrin sector. Additionally, Bassem Rabee al-Battoosh, a key ISIS operative, was killed in the attack.
The successful operation marks a significant blow to ISIS’s operational structure in Iraq, particularly in regions that have remained vulnerable to insurgent activities.
Security officials emphasized that the elimination of these high-ranking militants will further weaken ISIS’s capacity to conduct attacks and destabilize the region.
The Iraqi military continues to intensify counterterrorism efforts, utilizing intelligence-driven operations and airstrikes to dismantle ISIS networks.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating the remnants of the extremist group and ensuring long-term security in areas previously under ISIS control.
