ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Erbil Municipality continues its annual initiative to expand green spaces across the city, reaffirming its commitment to urban beautification and environmental sustainability.
As part of this effort, over 90 silver cypress saplings have been planted along a section of 120 Meter Street, spanning from the Kirkuk Street Bridge toward Koya Street.
The planting sites include key areas such as the Roshnbiri, Farmanbaran, Mamostayan, and Zanko neighborhoods.
Rebin Ahmed, Director of Parks and Gardens Engineering in Erbil, stated on Saturday, February 8, 2025, that these locations were selected to enhance the city’s landscape and increase much-needed green coverage.
In addition to these efforts, Ahmed announced a large-scale tree-planting campaign set to commence on March 14.
This campaign, which will run through the end of the year, aims to cover major streets across Erbil, reinforcing the city’s long-term afforestation plan.
The municipality’s initiative aligns with broader efforts to mitigate urban heat, improve air quality, and create more environmentally friendly spaces for residents. With continuous expansion projects in progress, Erbil is positioning itself as a greener and more sustainable urban center.
