DEM Party Delegation to Discuss Peace Process with President Barzani
“In our meeting with President Barzani, we will take his views, thoughts, and comprehensive suggestions regarding the process seriously and later convey them to Ocalan,” she explained.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A delegation from the Peoples' Democratic and Equality Party (DEM Party) is set to visit Erbil on Sunday to meet with President Masoud Barzani and President Nechirvan Barzani, seeking their perspectives on the ongoing peace process in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan.
Pervin Buldan, a member of the DEM Party delegation that recently met with Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali Prison, told Kurdistan24 on Friday that obtaining President Barzani’s views is a crucial step in advancing the peace initiative.
“We are conducting a very important visit to Erbil and will meet with President Barzani and Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Sunday,” she stated.
Barzani’s Role in the Peace Process
Buldan emphasized that Ocalan himself has stressed the significance of engaging with President Barzani to gain his insights into the process.
“In our meeting with President Barzani, we will take his views, thoughts, and comprehensive suggestions regarding the process seriously and later convey them to Ocalan,” she explained.
The Kurdistan Region has historically played a mediating role in broader Kurdish political affairs, advocating for peaceful solutions and dialogue.
President Barzani has long supported initiatives aimed at securing Kurdish rights through nonviolent means, making his perspective a valuable component of any prospective peace talks.
Future of the Peace Process and Next Steps
Following two prior meetings with Ocalan, the DEM Party delegation has yet to confirm a date for a third visit to Imrali Prison.
Buldan disclosed to Kurdistan24 that they are awaiting an invitation from Ocalan but have not been given a specific timeframe for when the next discussion will take place.
The peace process between the Turkish government and Kurdish political representatives has remained a contentious issue, with intermittent efforts at negotiations often met with setbacks.
The DEM Party’s engagement with President Barzani underscores the significance of regional Kurdish unity and consultation in shaping a durable resolution.
The upcoming meeting in Erbil is expected to provide a clearer roadmap for the next phase of discussions, as both parties assess ways to move forward toward lasting stability and recognition of Kurdish political rights within Turkey.
