Kurdistan’s Largest Tourism Project to Be Built in Akre at a Cost of $150 Million

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A private local company is set to launch the largest tourism project in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, with an investment of $150 million.
The project will cover an area of 446 hectares in the heart of Akre district and will be implemented in three phases. It aims to significantly enhance the region’s tourism industry and attract both local and international visitors.
Tourist Facilities Planned
Speaking to Kurdistan24, Akre Tourism Director Amin Salem stated that upon completion, the project will bring a major transformation to the tourism sector in the area, improving its appeal as a top travel destination.
The project will include a variety of modern facilities such as hotels and motels, around 100 restaurants and kiosks, a business complex, an event hall, and a cable car (teleferik) offering scenic views of the surrounding landscapes.
Once fully operational, the tourist complex will have the capacity to accommodate up to 2,500 visitors per night, providing world-class hospitality and entertainment services.
