President Masoud Barzani stands firm against violations on Kurdish farmers' land

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a strong defense of Kurdish farmers’ rights, President Masoud Barzani has sent a clear message to Baghdad, declaring that violations by the Iraqi army against farmers in Sargaran’s villages are unacceptable and must stop immediately.
Despite the passage of a law annulling the Ba'ath regime’s previous decisions to seize Kurdish agricultural land, Iraqi army attempted to prevent Kurdish farmers from cultivating their lands in Shanagha, a village in Kirkuk’s Sargaran district.
According to Kurdistan24, President Barzani reaffirmed his stance, emphasizing that such actions contradict both the law and the Iraqi constitution. He warned that necessary measures would be taken to ensure the protection of farmers and their rights.
In a further show of support, Shakhawan Abdullah, Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, personally reached out to the affected farmers to relay President Barzani’s message, reassuring them of continued efforts to uphold justice.
