President Nechirvan Barzani and Al-Amiri Discuss Strengthening Iraq’s Stability and Cooperation

President Barzani reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s unwavering support for continued coordination with all national forces in Iraq.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani and Hadi Al-Amiri, Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, on Wednesday, discussed Iraq’s evolving political landscape and the ongoing relationship between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government in Baghdad.

President Barzani and Al-Amiri reviewed the latest political developments and the general situation in Iraq. They highlighted the need to resolve outstanding disputes between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region through dialogue and cooperation, emphasizing the importance of national interests in shaping future agreements.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening dialogue among all Iraqi political actors and fostering national unity to ensure the country’s stability. They stressed that cooperation and a spirit of partnership were essential to addressing Iraq’s challenges, resolving ongoing disputes, and maintaining the nation’s security.

President Barzani reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s unwavering support for continued coordination with all national forces in Iraq. He also emphasized the importance of backing the federal government’s efforts to enhance security, stability, and national cohesion, noting that such measures serve the best interests of the entire country.

Iraq has long faced political and security challenges, often exacerbated by divisions between Baghdad and the Kurdistan Region. Key disputes include budget allocations, oil revenues, and the implementation of constitutional agreements regarding Kurdistan’s autonomy. 

While tensions have occasionally flared, recent diplomatic efforts have aimed to foster cooperation and stability. This meeting between President Barzani and Al-Amiri underscores ongoing efforts to bridge divides and ensure a unified approach to Iraq’s future.
