President Masoud Barzani, Mazloum Abdi highlight Kurdish unity in Syria

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – In a significant step toward strengthening Kurdish unity, President Masoud Barzani and Mazloum Abdi, Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), held a phone call on Wednesday to discuss the political atmosphere in Syria.

According to a statement from Barzani’s headquarters, Abdi provided insights into his recent visit to Damascus, outlining the discussions and understandings reached with the Syrian government.

Both leaders reaffirmed the importance of supporting efforts that promote peace and stability in Syria. They also emphasized the necessity of a unified Kurdish stance in the evolving Syrian political process, underscoring the critical role of collaboration in shaping the region’s future. 

This conversation reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen Kurdish cooperation and contribute to a stable and peaceful resolution in Syria.

Syria's interim government signed a deal on Monday with the Kurdish-led authority that controls the country's northeast (Rojava). The agreement includes a ceasefire and the integration of the main US-backed SDF into the Syrian Army.
