ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Region is set to arrive in Abu Dhabi today for an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, where he will hold high-level talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, according to a statement by the Kurdistan Region Presidency.

The discussions are expected to cover a wide range of topics, including bilateral relations between the UAE, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East and other matters of shared interest.

This visit comes at a time of growing political and economic cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the UAE, reflecting the broader UAE-Iraq rapprochement in recent years. Erbil and Abu Dhabi have developed a mutually beneficial relationship, particularly in trade, investment, and infrastructure development, with the Kurdistan Region emerging as an attractive hub for Emirati business interests.

Over the past decade, the UAE has shown increased interest in investing in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, especially in the energy, real estate, and agriculture sectors. Several UAE-based companies have already launched successful ventures in Erbil and other cities in the Region.

Meanwhile, the Kurdistan Region’s leadership, including Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has consistently viewed the UAE as a reliable regional partner that champions moderate diplomacy and economic resilience.

The visit also reflects both leaders’ interest in promoting intercultural dialogue, investment diversification, and people-to-people ties between the Gulf and the Kurdistan Region.

President Barzani’s visit to Abu Dhabi reinforces the Kurdistan Region’s strategy to maintain strong ties with key Gulf states while contributing to regional stability and economic integration.
