ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Saturday received a delegation from the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kurdistan, reaffirming the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to strengthening ties with the United Kingdom.

The delegation, led by John Slinger, Member of Parliament and chairman of the APPG, was warmly welcomed in Erbil, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). The APPG on Kurdistan includes members from across the British political spectrum and works to promote strong political, economic, and cultural relations between the UK and the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, the visiting MPs outlined the group's ongoing initiatives in support of the Kurdistan Region. Their efforts, they said, aim to enhance bilateral cooperation and advocate for the rights and development of the Kurdish people within the UK Parliament.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed deep appreciation for the group’s long-standing support and commended the UK Government and Parliament for their role in backing the Kurdistan Region. He noted the importance of continued collaboration and expressed hope for further progress in mutual areas of interest.

The two sides also discussed the current state of relations between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in Baghdad. Key issues included the need to uphold the constitutional rights and financial entitlements of civil servants and the importance of restarting oil exports from the region.

The meeting underscored the growing partnership between the Kurdistan Region and the UK and highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing shared interests.
