PM Barzani Welcomes Boxing Champion Agit Kabayel to Kurdistan Region

Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Kabayel on securing the World Boxing Council (WBC) interim heavyweight title in February 2025, following his victory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday received world-renowned Kurdish professional boxer Agit Kabayel, celebrating his recent success and reaffirming support for Kurdish athletes on the global stage.

According to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Kabayel on securing the World Boxing Council (WBC) interim heavyweight title in February 2025, following his victory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He praised Kabayel's achievements and wished him continued success in his career.

Kabayel, in turn, expressed his joy at visiting the Kurdistan Region and thanked the Prime Minister for his encouragement and support. As a token of appreciation, he presented his championship belt to Prime Minister Barzani.

The meeting underscored the importance of supporting Kurdish talent and promoting the region's presence in international sports.

Kabayel is a professional Kurdish boxer who lives in Germany and is known for his achievements in the heavyweight division. He has gained recognition for his impressive skills and notable victories in the ring, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the boxing world.
