ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – President Masoud Barzani extended his heartfelt congratulations to Duhok Sports Club on Tuesday following the club’s remarkable achievement in securing the Gulf Champions Cup title, describing the victory as a historic moment not only for Duhok but for all of Kurdistan.

In a message published on his official account on Platform X, President Barzani wrote, “I warmly congratulate Duhok Sports Club on this historic achievement in winning the Gulf Clubs Championship.”

He added, “I also extend my congratulations to the people of Duhok and to all the people of Kurdistan. This victory is a triumph for all of Kurdistan.”

Duhok’s crowning moment came after a thrilling 2-1 win over Kuwait’s Al-Qadsya SC in the second leg of the championship final, played earlier today at Duhok Stadium. The match capped an electrifying campaign by the Kurdish club, who displayed unwavering determination and exceptional skill on home soil.

After a scoreless first leg in Kuwait City last week, the pressure mounted as both sides entered the deciding match. Duhok broke the deadlock in the 66th minute through Siamand Akeed, igniting the home crowd. However, Al-Qadsya responded quickly with an equalizer in the 70th minute, setting the stage for a tense finale.

Duhok’s decisive blow came in stoppage time, when Brazilian forward Marlon netted the winner in the 92nd minute, sending fans into euphoric celebration and securing the championship title.

This victory marks a significant milestone in the history of Duhok SC and represents one of the most notable accomplishments by a Kurdish football club on the regional stage. The team’s triumph has resonated far beyond the pitch, becoming a source of pride and unity for all of Kurdistan.
