Kurdistan Region President Welcomes Arab Summit in Baghdad as a “Historic Diplomatic Milestone”
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, President Barzani commended the gathering of Arab leaders in the Iraqi capital, highlighting the significance of the event in restoring Iraq’s pivotal regional role.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Wednesday welcomed the convening of the Arab Summit in Baghdad, describing it as a “historic diplomatic milestone” that underscores Iraq’s resurgence as a key player in the Middle East.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, President Barzani commended the gathering of Arab leaders in the Iraqi capital, highlighting the significance of the event in restoring Iraq’s pivotal regional role.
“We welcome the convening of the Arab Summit and the leaders of Arab states in Baghdad, as this summit represents a historic diplomatic milestone that embodies Iraq's restoration of its pivotal role in the Middle East,” the President wrote.
He also expressed full support for Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s efforts to bolster regional cooperation.
“We also express our full support for the efforts of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani to strengthen joint Arab action, build partnerships and mutual interests, and lead the path to de-escalation and regional integration from the heart of the capital, Baghdad,” he added.
The Arab Summit, hosted in Baghdad, is seen as a critical platform for enhancing diplomatic ties, promoting dialogue, and addressing shared challenges across the Arab world.
