PM Barzani Meets US Congressman Abe Hamadeh in Washington
In the meeting, Congressman Hamadeh shared his personal connection to the Kurdish people, stating, “I am proud to have Kurdish roots in my family. My grandmother on my father's side is Kurdish, and my mother is Durzi.”

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with U.S. Congressman Abraham (Abe) Hamadeh on Tuesday during his official visit to Washington, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced in a statement.
In the meeting, Congressman Hamadeh shared his personal connection to the Kurdish people, stating, “I am proud to have Kurdish roots in my family. My grandmother on my father's side is Kurdish, and my mother is Durzi.”
Hamadeh welcomed the Prime Minister's visit to the U.S. capital and praised the signing of two recent energy agreements, describing them as significant steps that would benefit all Iraqis. He also underscored the importance of deepening ties between the United States and the Kurdistan Region.
Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Hamadeh on his election to Congress in 2024 and wished him continued success in his role. He also conveyed his appreciation for the enduring support the Kurdistan Region has received from the United States.
The meeting is part of Prime Minister Barzani’s broader diplomatic efforts to strengthen political and economic cooperation between Erbil and Washington.
