PM Barzani Meets US Senator Ted Budd in Washington
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the United States.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with U.S. Senator Ted Budd on Wednesday as part of his official visit to Washington, the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) announced.
During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the United States. Senator Budd expressed continued support for the Peshmerga forces and acknowledged their critical role in maintaining regional security.
Prime Minister Barzani and Senator Budd also discussed the ongoing issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in Baghdad. They stressed the need to respect the Region’s constitutional status within Iraq’s federal system and underlined the importance of dialogue in addressing disputes.
Additionally, the meeting touched on the KRG’s reform agenda, with a focus on advancing economic infrastructure, improving the electricity and energy sectors, and modernizing the banking system.
The visit is part of Prime Minister Barzani’s broader efforts to deepen international partnerships and secure continued backing for the Kurdistan Region’s development and stability.
