PM Barzani Discusses Energy Cooperation with US Secretary of Energy in Washington

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met on Thursday with U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright in Washington to discuss strengthening energy cooperation and expanding American investment in the Region, according to a statement from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
Secretary Wright welcomed Prime Minister Barzani’s visit and reaffirmed the United States’ support for deepening energy sector partnerships, including ongoing and future agreements with U.S. companies operating in the Kurdistan Region. He also emphasized the importance of continued American investment in the Region’s growing energy market.
Prime Minister Barzani expressed his appreciation for U.S. support and briefed Secretary Wright on the KRG’s ongoing reform agenda. He highlighted key initiatives, particularly in the energy sector, including the strategic Runaki projects, and outlined the government’s broader efforts to develop a strong and sustainable economic infrastructure.
The meeting underscored the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to fostering international partnerships and advancing energy reforms as part of its economic development strategy.
