ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The number of Israeli casualties caused by Iran’s continued missile and drone attacks has risen to over 400, according to a Monday report by The Jerusalem Post, marking a dramatic escalation in the fourth consecutive day of cross-border hostilities.

The report noted that two additional bodies were recovered earlier in the day from beneath the rubble of collapsed residential buildings, raising the official death toll to 16, with at least 390 others wounded as of June 16, 2025.

Rescue teams across multiple sites in Israel continue searching for those trapped under debris resulting from repeated Iranian strikes that have targeted civilian infrastructure and apartment blocks.

Continued Retaliatory Strikes

The deadly escalation stems from a chain of attacks that began early Friday, June 13, when the Israeli military launched a wide-scale aerial offensive targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure. Dubbed “Operation Rising Lion,” the offensive included precision strikes on nuclear enrichment facilities and strategic missile sites inside Iran.

In response, Iran announced the launch of “Operation True Promise 3,” unleashing multiple barrages of ballistic missiles and explosive-laden drones toward Israeli population centers.

Ceasefire Hopes and Strategic Shifts

As the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue to strike missile launch sites in anticipation of further Iranian rocket fire, international attention has turned to diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope on Sunday that Israel and Iran might reach a ceasefire agreement, suggesting that Israel’s aerial supremacy could potentially bring the conflict to a quicker end.

The conflict continues to exact a heavy toll on both sides, with mounting casualties, extensive destruction, and growing international pressure for de-escalation.
