ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a stark warning to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, cautioning that the Islamic Republic’s regime is in jeopardy amid escalating conflict with Israel, according to an exclusive report by Israel Hayom.

The report, published Sunday, revealed that Putin contacted U.S. President Donald Trump at Iran's request to discuss the rapidly deteriorating situation between Tehran and Tel Aviv. Citing diplomatic sources, Israel Hayom stated that during the call, Trump made it clear he would not impose any constraints on Israel's military operations.

Following the conversation, Israel Hayom reported, Putin conveyed the content of the call to Khamenei and strongly advised the Iranian leadership to shift course and seek negotiations immediately. As a further signal of concern, the Russian president also ordered the evacuation of embassy staff from Tehran, according to the same source.

The report emphasized that Russia has begun playing a more active diplomatic role in the crisis. Israel Hayom indicated that Iran was behind the initiative to involve Putin, hoping Moscow could help mediate and de-escalate tensions.

In a separate development, Israel Hayom noted that President Trump spoke to ABC News on Sunday, confirming Putin’s involvement. “He’s ready,” Trump said, referring to Putin’s offer to mediate. “He called me about it. We had a long conversation about it.”

The potential mediation effort comes amid days of open military exchanges between Israel and Iran, as fears grow of a broader regional conflict. While Washington has so far supported Israel's right to self-defense, Trump’s refusal to curtail Israeli actions reportedly prompted Tehran to explore Russian intervention, Israel Hayom reported.
