ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The UN Security Council convened on Tuesday to address the situation in the Middle East. Iran's envoy to the council, Amir-Saeid Iravani, stated, "Israel must take moral responsibility, and the United States, France, and other countries must share that responsibility. The only nation capable of stopping Israel's aggression is the United States."

He further commented, "The UN Security Council has failed to protect international security adequately, and Iran has defended itself and its citizens."

Iravani’s statement follows a series of Israeli airstrikes conducted on June 13, during which more than 200 warplanes targeted military and nuclear sites across Tehran and other Iranian cities. Iranian media sources said the attacks killed several high-ranking military commanders and atomic scientists, with Israel allegedly focusing on disrupting key infrastructure, including state media facilities.

In response, Iran launched hundreds of missiles at Israeli targets on Sunday, signaling a significant escalation in its retaliation campaign and setting the stage for a potentially broader conflict.
