Macron: U.S. Role Crucial in Reviving Diplomatic Efforts on Iran
Macron: Trump key to Iran diplomacy amid Israel conflict. Urges ceasefire, warns against regime change chaos. G7 backs Israel, blames Iran for instability.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed on Tuesday that U.S. President Donald Trump plays a pivotal role in reviving diplomatic efforts with Iran, amid escalating regional tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
Speaking to reporters during the G7 summit in Canada, Macron said he believes President Trump supports a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
"I believe we need the United States to bring everyone back to the negotiating table," Macron stated, emphasizing the indispensable role of Washington in preventing a further breakdown in diplomacy.
The French President warned that any attempt to forcibly change Iran’s political system could lead to "chaos," particularly in the current volatile atmosphere marked by direct confrontation between Iran and Israel.
In a joint statement issued late Monday, G7 nations reaffirmed their support for Israel, labeling Iran as a source of instability in the Middle East. The bloc’s leaders urged de-escalation across the wider region.
Since Friday, Israel has launched an extensive aerial campaign targeting military bases, nuclear facilities, and residential areas throughout Iran. The strikes have killed over 250 individuals, including high-ranking military officers, nuclear scientists, and civilians.
Iran retaliated with waves of drone and missile attacks, which have reportedly killed more than 25 people in Israel, according to the latest official figures.
