Russia Warns Israeli Strikes on Iran Risk Nuclear Catastrophe, Urges Return to Diplomacy
Russia condemns Israeli strikes on Iran as illegal, warns of nuclear brink. Backs Iran's NPT compliance, offers mediation & uranium storage to de-escalate crisis.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Russian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing strikes against Iran, labeling them illegal under international law and warning that such actions could propel the world toward a nuclear disaster.
In a statement published on its official Telegram channel, the ministry described the “continued intense attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities” as unlawful, asserting that they present “unacceptable threats to international security and push the world to the brink of nuclear catastrophe.”
Moscow Backs Diplomacy, Criticizes Israel’s Isolation
The Russian ministry emphasized that broad international condemnation of Israel’s conduct underscores the lack of support for Tel Aviv’s actions, adding that Israel is only backed by states “directly involved in such acts and motivated by opportunistic agendas.”
Highlighting Tehran’s clear and consistent commitment to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), Russia said Iran’s stated readiness to resume dialogue with the United States “eliminates all doubts surrounding the nature of its nuclear program.”
Moscow reaffirmed its full support for Iran’s position, stressing that the “desired resolution can only be reached through diplomacy and negotiations.”
IAEA Report Demanded, Kremlin Offers Mediation
Russia also called on the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to issue “a prompt, detailed written report with an objective and impartial assessment of the damage” inflicted on Iranian nuclear infrastructure.
Separately, the Kremlin reiterated on Monday its readiness to act as a mediator in the escalating Israel-Iran conflict and noted that its proposal to store Iranian uranium on Russian soil remains valid as a potential step toward de-escalation.
