ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – The Israeli military on Friday afternoon announced a new wave of airstrikes on Iranian territory, targeting several missile platforms and air defense systems in a broadening military campaign that has now reached key urban centers.

In an official statement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed: “A short while ago, the Israeli Air Force struck surface-to-air missile batteries in southwestern Iran.” The strikes were part of a wider offensive that also hit the capital Tehran, the central city of Isfahan, and western regions of the country.

Iran Claims Arrest of ‘European Spy’

In a parallel development, Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported the arrest of a European citizen accused of espionage. The individual was allegedly detained in southwestern Iran while attempting to gather intelligence on sensitive locations. Authorities said the suspect entered the country as a tourist at the time of the Israeli attacks, but did not disclose the individual’s nationality or the date of the arrest.

Strikes in Tehran Injure Civilians

Iranian media outlets reported that Israeli strikes earlier on Friday hit a five-story building on Marzdaran Street in Tehran, injuring at least five civilians. The targeted building housed a luxury bakery, a women’s hair salon, and a psychiatrist’s clinic, with three floors reportedly sustaining direct hits.

Earlier in the day, Iran launched multiple missiles toward Israeli territory. The Israeli emergency medical service confirmed that 12 people were injured in Haifa, including two in critical condition, amid ongoing retaliatory fire between the two countries.

In a post on his official X platform account, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated that “Israel is now facing the consequences of its actions.”

The arrest and ongoing military strikes come as tensions between Iran and Israel continue to intensify, with fears of wider regional involvement and further escalation growing by the hour.
