Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Condemns U.S. Strikes on Nuclear Sites as ‘Barbaric’
Iran slams US nuclear strikes as 'barbaric,' vows to continue atomic program. Accuses IAEA of complicity, demands global condemnation of attack on safeguarded sites.
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) issued a strongly worded statement on Sunday denouncing the recent U.S. airstrikes on several nuclear facilities, including the fortified Fordow site deep beneath a mountain, describing the operation as “barbaric” and a blatant violation of international law.
According to the AEOI, the U.S. strikes targeted the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan facilities in the early hours of Sunday following what it called “days of savage Zionist aggression.” The statement emphasized that the attacks, allegedly carried out under the “complete negligence and complicity” of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), defied the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
Iran Rejects Disruption of Nuclear Progress
The agency firmly declared that Iran’s nuclear activities will not be halted. “The American enemy, through cyber and military aggression, and through the direct words of its President, claimed responsibility for the attack on sites that are under continuous IAEA supervision in accordance with safeguard agreements and the NPT,” the statement read.
Iran further criticized the IAEA for what it called silence in the face of a “flagrant violation of international norms.”
Call for International Condemnation
The statement called on the international community to denounce what it termed “lawless behavior driven by jungle logic” and to support Iran’s legitimate rights.
“The AEOI assures the great Iranian nation that, despite the enemies’ wicked conspiracies, the relentless efforts of thousands of revolutionary and motivated scientists will ensure that the path of developing this national industry—born from the blood of nuclear martyrs—will never be halted,” the organization added.
In conclusion, the AEOI said it has initiated all necessary steps, including legal proceedings, to defend the rights of the Iranian people and uphold the sovereignty of its nuclear program.
