PM Barzani Meets Indian Consul General, Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

For his part, Consul General Kumar emphasized India's interest in deepening relations with the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the areas of investment, trade, and healthcare.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Sunday received Brijesh Kumar, the newly appointed Consul General of India in the Kurdistan Region, reaffirming both sides’ commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani congratulated Kumar on his new post and expressed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s full support for the success of his diplomatic mission. He also highlighted the historic friendship and growing partnership between the Kurdistan Region and India.

For his part, Consul General Kumar emphasized India's interest in deepening relations with the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the areas of investment, trade, and healthcare. He noted that Indian businesses and institutions view the Region as a key partner.

The meeting also touched on the status of the Indian community residing in the Kurdistan Region. Kumar thanked the KRG for its continued support and cooperation, especially from relevant authorities, in ensuring the well-being and integration of the Indian diaspora.

The discussion underscored the mutual interest in expanding ties and building on the strong foundations of people-to-people and government-to-government relations.
