ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, delivered an address at an emergency UN Security Council session, praising the United States’ recent strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities as a historic and necessary intervention against what he called “the greatest existential threat facing the free world.”

“Last night, history changed,” Danon said. “The United States of America struck Iran’s nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan… This was not a war of choice. It was a necessity. It was a righteous act—for the United States, for Israel, for the Middle East, and for the world.”

‘Thank You, America’

Danon expressed gratitude to Washington for what he described as unparalleled leadership. “Thank you to the United States for removing the greatest threat to global security. Thank you, President Trump, for acting when so many hesitated,” he stated. “The free world must now follow suit.”

Iran’s Regional Threat Profile

Highlighting Iran’s extensive regional influence, Danon accused Tehran of orchestrating violence through proxies in Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, and even Europe. “You cannot sit this one out,” he told the Council. “You cannot condemn the firefighters while the arsonist tries to light more fires.”

Condemns Inaction and Complicity

Turning to critics of the operation, Danon lambasted those who had previously remained silent. “Where were you when Iran raced toward a bomb?” he asked. “Where were you when it buried entire fortresses beneath mountains to prepare for our extermination? You were silent. You were complicit. You were bystanders.”

Recalling past calls for a “coalition of the courageous,” Danon argued that the time for diplomacy had long passed, accusing Iran of exploiting negotiation processes to buy time for nuclear advancement. “The regime’s goal was never peaceful energy. Its goal was death and destruction,” he said.

Moral Clarity and Strategic Precision

Danon emphasized that Israel’s military actions have been measured and targeted, contrasting them with what he described as Iran’s indiscriminate violence. “Israel’s targets are not cities, not civilians, not homes or schools. They are ballistic missile launchers and nuclear sites. This is the moral difference between us and them.”

He further claimed that Israel has already secured air superiority over Iranian skies and would continue to act “with restraint and moral clarity.”

Call to Global Action

In conclusion, Danon called on the international community to unite in ensuring that Iran never reacquires nuclear capability. “Let the record show: when the world stood at the edge of nuclear disaster, America stepped forward. When the moment came to confront the forces of extinction, America led. Now it is time for the rest of the world to act.”

The ambassador’s remarks reflect Israel’s unyielding position on Iran’s nuclear ambitions and its endorsement of military action as a last but necessary resort, framing it as an act of global defense rather than regional aggression.
