ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Director General of Erbil International Airport, Ahmed Hoshyar, announced on Thursday that flights from Erbil to Europe will officially resume on Friday, with the first outbound flight scheduled for Copenhagen.

In an interview with Kurdistan24, Hoshyar confirmed that additional international flights will gradually return to normal operations in the coming days.

This development follows a temporary suspension of air traffic due to the closure of Iraqi airspace by the Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority amid the Iran-Israel war. The closure had led to widespread flight cancellations affecting both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

Airport authorities expect a full restoration of international connections soon, bringing relief to travelers and airlines impacted by the recent disruptions.
