Trump Slams Netanyahu Prosecution as “Political Witch Hunt,” Warns of U.S. Support Repercussions Over Trial
Trump warned of consequences for U.S. support to Israel, pointing out that Washington spends “Billions of Dollars a year” supporting its close Middle Eastern ally. “We are not going to stand for this,” he declared.

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — U.S. President Donald Trump strongly criticized the ongoing legal proceedings against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling them a "political witch hunt" and warning that the trial could jeopardize sensitive negotiations with both Iran and Hamas.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, Trump defended Netanyahu, calling him a “war hero” and praising his leadership, particularly in joint efforts with the United States to confront Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
“It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu,” Trump wrote. “He is a War Hero, and a Prime Minister who did a fabulous job working with the United States to bring Great Success in getting rid of the dangerous Nuclear threat in Iran.”
Trump also emphasized that Netanyahu is currently engaged in high-stakes negotiations with Hamas aimed at securing the release of hostages — a process he argued is being disrupted by the court proceedings.
“How is it possible that the Prime Minister of Israel can be forced to sit in a Courtroom all day long, over NOTHING (Cigars, Bugs Bunny Doll, etc.)?” he asked, referencing what he characterized as trivial charges. “This travesty of ‘Justice’ will interfere with both Iran and Hamas negotiations.”
Netanyahu is currently on trial in Jerusalem on multiple charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust — allegations he has consistently denied, calling them politically motivated.
Comparing Netanyahu’s legal troubles to his own, Trump wrote, “It is a POLITICAL WITCH HUNT, very similar to the Witch Hunt that I was forced to endure.”
Trump also warned of consequences for U.S. support to Israel, pointing out that Washington spends “Billions of Dollars a year” supporting its close Middle Eastern ally. “We are not going to stand for this,” he declared.
He concluded his message with a direct plea: “LET BIBI GO, HE’S GOT A BIG JOB TO DO!”
The post comes amid heightened political tensions in Israel and ongoing diplomatic efforts to broker a deal with Hamas, as well as manage the broader regional crisis involving Iran.
