PM Barzani, Finnish Ambassador Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Ties

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Finnish Ambassador to Iraq Anu Saarela on Wednesday in Erbil, reaffirming the strong and growing partnership between Finland and the Kurdistan Region.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Barzani expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Saarela for her role in fostering bilateral relations, thanking her for her dedication and wishing her continued success in her future assignments.
Ambassador Saarela, in turn, praised the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) for its ongoing cooperation and coordination. She emphasized Finland’s commitment to deepening ties with the Kurdistan Region and expanding areas of mutual interest.
The two officials also discussed recent political developments in Iraq and the broader region. Both sides stressed the importance of resolving outstanding issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in Baghdad, and reaffirmed the need to uphold Iraq’s federal system and the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region.
