ERBIL (Kurdistan24) — The Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) on Sunday released a statement detailing a "very efficient" two-and-a-half-hour meeting held with imprisoned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Ocalan at İmralı Island Prison.

In the written statement, the İmralı Delegation described Ocalan as being in good health and high spirits, emphasizing that the peace process is entering a "new stage."

"Mr. Ocalan highlighted that with the new steps to be taken, everyone—ourselves included—has responsibilities in fulfilling the requirements of the process," the statement read.

Ocalan underlined the significance of an anticipated meeting between the DEM Party delegation and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, calling it "historic" in nature. He also welcomed the formation of a new commission in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, which he believes will play a pivotal role in advancing peace and democratic solutions.

The delegation concluded by expressing optimism and renewed confidence in the process, noting that "hope, trust, and belief in contributing to Turkey’s democratization are extremely strong."

The meeting is being widely seen as a potential turning point in efforts to reignite dialogue aimed at resolving long-standing Kurdish issues through political and peaceful means.
