ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – A suicide drone was intercepted early Friday near a Peshmerga position in the Altun Kupri sub-district of Kirkuk province, the Kurdistan Region’s Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD) announced.
The incident occurred at approximately 1:35 a.m., according to a CTD statement. No casualties or damage were reported as a result of the attempted attack.
While the drone’s origin remains unknown, the CTD confirmed that an investigation is underway. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident.
Altun Kupri, located on the administrative border between the Kurdistan Region and federal Iraq, has witnessed periodic security tensions and remains a strategically sensitive area.
