President Barzani Receives High-Level Delegation from DEM Party and Prominent Political Figures

ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – President Masoud Barzani on Friday received a delegation from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), along with several well-known political figures, at his residence in Salahaddin.

The visiting delegation included senior party leaders and prominent figures: Ahmed Turk, Leyla Zana, Sırrı Sakık, DEM Party Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan, Co-Chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, DEM Party MP Meral Danış Beştaş, and DEM Party Foreign Affairs Officer Berdan Oztürk.

During the meeting, the delegation conveyed their deep respect and appreciation for President Barzani’s national and strategic role in supporting the peace process, describing it as significant and influential.

The delegation also conveyed a personal message and request from Abdullah Ocalan, in which the imprisoned PKK’s leader invited President Barzani to visit him.

In response, President Barzani emphasized that the steps taken so far in the peace process are indeed significant and moving in the right direction.

He further underscored the importance of patience and careful deliberation to achieve the desired outcomes, noting, “Ten years of dialogue are better than one hour of war.”

President Barzani stressed that conflict and violence do not solve problems, and instead, political struggle, dialogue, mutual acceptance, and diplomacy must be the foundation of any solution.

He assured the delegation that he would spare no effort in contributing to the success of the peace process.

Regarding Ocalan’s invitation, President Barzani stated that the visit would be conducted when conditions are appropriate and called on all Kurdish political parties to support the peace process in Turkey.
