ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) has announced that a draw will be held on August 9 to determine the number of coalitions, political parties, and individual candidates participating in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

In a statement on Monday, the IHEC said its council of commissioners convened to review a memorandum submitted by the head of the electoral office. During the meeting, the commission approved the mechanism for conducting the lotteries that will finalize the lineup of participants in the elections.

These steps mark a significant phase in the election process, as the draw will officially determine how many coalitions, parties, and candidates are eligible to contest seats in the next parliamentary session.

The IHEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and orderly procedures as Iraq prepares for another round of parliamentary elections.
