Erbil Governor Says Air Defense System on Full 24-Hour Alert
Erbil Governor Omed Xoshnaw confirmed the city’s air defense system operates 24/7, rejecting rumors and assuring continuous protection against missile and drone threats.
ERBIL (Kurdistan) - Amid circulating rumors on social media, Erbil’s top official has moved to reassure the public, stressing that the city’s air defense system remains fully operational at all times.
On Wednesday, Erbil Governor Omed Xoshnaw issued a clarification rejecting claims that the capital’s air defense system operates only during specific hours.
“We completely reject these rumors and reassure citizens that the anti-missile and anti-drone system in Erbil’s airspace is operating 24 hours a day at the highest level of global technology, ready to respond to any threat,” Xoshnaw said.
He emphasized that the protection of the capital’s airspace has never been suspended and is carried out as a continuous mission.
Xoshnaw added that, at times, warplanes actively participate in safeguarding the city’s skies and intercepting drones and missiles that pose a threat to civilians and the stability of the city.
The statement comes as authorities seek to dispel misinformation and reinforce public confidence in the city’s defensive readiness.
